OUR HISTORY
- The organization was
established in 1988 with the formation of a committee of community
members concerned about the issue of HIV in our community.
- A Board of Directors was
formed in 1990.
- AIDS Bow Valley (known
then as Banff Regional AIDS Committee) was incorporated as a Society on
December 8th, 1992.
- The Board outlined
programs and services and hired a program coordinator to take on the
task of implementing the new programs.
- Federal and provincial
funding was secured in 1993 and the agency joined several Canadian HIV/AIDS
coalitions including the Canadian AIDS Society and the Alberta Community
Council on HIV in 1994.
- Community profile and
service delivery were enhanced and the region of services was broadened
to include Canmore, Lake Louise, and Kananaskis.
- Long-term community
partnerships began to emerge in 1997.
- AIDS Bow Valley revised
its by-laws and mandate in 2000.
